@Make em Know! they actually did change the laws in 2011, where censorship also applied to things delivered electronically (e.g., internet) since the law (article 175 i think) was made back in 1907. There's also laws that prohibit habitual gambling (up to 3 yrs), marry while married and knowingly marrying the married, etc. The 'half-assed bullshit' is the artist's way of exploiting an interpretation of the law that technically bans "obscene objects such as documents, drawings or recording media..." it's only because "obscene" was later ruled to include sex that it's even illegal. amending laws via any democracy takes forever and opinions via conservative Supreme court in Japan Since the censoring goes beyond porn, reevaluating or changing the law may make people ask -"well what else are they (the government) censoring?" TL;DR there's no law against it par se, but interpretation/application of law via the Supreme Court & lobbied by overprotective parents

When I see artists like this having to comply with their censorship laws it really bothers because of how pointless those laws are in the first place, censoring genitals in porn is completely without reason there is NO benefit to speak of whatsoever, I'm baffled they haven't changed those laws yet, as hard as it might be to accept, people mainly watch porn to see genitals bashing together that's where everyone's eyes go when they watch porn, even if it's censored, there are laws you could argue that do more harm than good then there's laws like this that any reasonable man would take a look at and go, ''Well that's a COMPLETE waste of fucking time why is that law even there?'' either ban it outright or let it be in it's entirety this half assed bullshit isn't benefiting anyone
