First things first, cousins marrying was kind of normal back then, so why would it be hidden if that was the case? Second, they wouldn't be closely related enough to warrant the conversation their father had with the servant if they weren't at least double cousins / half siblings (but since the dude is 100% human while the gal has centaur genes, they can't be double cousins). Third, this 3-2 generational deal serves as a way to quickly bridge the genes of two females from distinct families who partnered with a single man (because daddy is hungry for power and wants strong grandchildren, patriarchy, blablabla); Guy says that his mom was strong AF, so it checks that his maternal side has an important lineage too.
