afaik the author is one to not continue a series once he sees his work pirated on the web. as for this seriesn, a chapter 9 would have been nice, but i always thought a chapter 7.5 where the boy maybe met a prostitute and found out his mother wanted to be seen as a women as well somehow, would have been nice, since him turning adult in one chapter always felt off.
