Also I'm not sure but it feels like the 10 day promise was slightly mistranslated based on the other lines, it seems like it was more along the lines of "Once someone discovers you or after 10 days I'll release you" that would better explain why she talks of broken promise on day 10 and why on day 1 she calmly says "if someone finds me, all of this will be resolved in a day" instead of being like "I must find someone as soon as possible or I'm going to be stuck like this".

Another option would be that maybe the witch somehow collects and sells the eggs which would fit nicely with the livestock feeling.

This is so cool, but the question is do more plants hatch from the eggs? If so she could slowly explore the whole realm by going as far away from the plant as she can without starving on the way back and laying the eggs there before returning to feed on the plant and maybe repeating that for other directions while waiting for the laid eggs to hatch and grow big enough to feed her so she can do it again but starting from the new plant. I kind of want to make a videogame out of this. Also how would she feel about her "children"?
