Season 2 Spoiler: Rem telling Subaru he deserves a rest is so out of character for her, that it's exactly what allowed Subaru to see through Carmilla's disguise in the series. The way the characterization deviates from the source material in general is interesting; it's the setup for Sloth If, except Rem is the one pushing them to run away before Subaru even learns about Petelgeuse's attack on the manor. It's hard for me to say; if Sloth If was within character for Rem, does that mean that this story would be too?
