After all, the easiest opponent is one who thinks more with their emotions rather than precise rational thought. If I were a demon, I would definitely pull the strings to make that doujin real. After all, physical wounds can heal over time, but mental wounds caused by severe trauma can greatly impact an individual's future thought processes and personality. As such, this doujin is such a great example of how to turn a hero into a monster - the best part of it being is that NO EXCUSES can be made on the hero's part! Think of it - murdering billions of humans all because they can't keep their own emotions in check!

A real demon chooses their moves with cold and calculated precision, using whatever tools and information they have at their disposal to win. A truly effective villain would also be great at being charismatic, detailed knowledge of the law, and twist the hero's weakness against them in order to eliminate the hero before he/she has the courage to surpass their strength.

You're all talking about what would happen if this was written by the author this doujin is based on, but remember - this doujin isn't written by the author that this doujin is based on. Furthermore, do you really think it would be THAT easy? It's very likely that the villains could be backed up by a demon who could take advantage of how weak Issei's emotional control is (from what you all are saying) to cause Earth to be destroyed, THUS winning in the end. There be no happy ending because the villain (a hypothetical demon pulling the strings) would win regardless. The "hero" let the villain win all because he can't control his rage.

I fully appreciate that Netorare, for better or worse, has its place in the scheme of things, although I certainly haven't always felt that way... *ahem* But perhaps an example would do better to convince: say, for instance, you have a character who is canonically paired with another; as a couple, they are perfect together. The guy is a wonderful person, the sort one would be blessed to call a friend, while the girl is equally as wonderful, the "perfect wife" so many dream of. As a couple, they are perfect, however, for whatever reason, they just don't seem like they'd go well together as "partners" to you. In a case like this, I feel like Netorare is perfectly justified, at the very least, and perhaps even a welcome change of pace. As far as original works are concerned, it's a bit more complicated: for me there needs to be adequate build-up, but that's an ambiguous line at best. Regardless, Netorare still has its place, as all things in life do. v_v

@Nagakura: Actually, I agree that the manga (and presumably the light novels as well) is terrible. However, the anime, if you actually WATCH it, is an entirely different matter. The degree of exposition is worlds apart from the source material; rather than "Damn, I love boobs." it's "How do boobs captivate me so? Let me count the ways..." For a "fan" of things like anime, manga, and such, you should really try looking at each format objectively, as separate modes of delivery can make all the difference.

Even if he WERE the type to become a cuckold, the initial rage would override any other emotions by virtue of the Red Dragon's nature.
