Person Below me is right, remember in one part the hero who lives with the demon lord got a new body that is immortal, but there is the possibility that this guy didn't want to live forever or have a super long life span. He was a by the book justice type of guy, maybe he saw that if he had lived forever or for 1000 years he would have become a tyrant ruling over a great kingdom and eventually he would be no better than the demon lord that wanted to rule everything with an Iron fist. Imagine if the monarchs from Eruope lived for 1000 years? There would be no societal progress since everyone would be living in the past or be slow to change. He probably chose to just die and let one of his children rule instead of himself. That's what made It sadder, he chose to not live longer, he chose to give his wife freedom, and she was sad that he gave her exactly what she wanted.

Tbh I thought that in such world existed some kind of spell or whatsoever that would have let the MC live as long as an elf or something that would link the lifespans of the 2 so that once the elf Queen died he would die too but nothing of that happened. I do understand that the ending my be sad or whatsoever but at the end what changed everything was that tattoo, if not for that I highly doubt she would have fallen in love with him. The endings bittersweet but it makes sense, that's just life. Old couples die and people are widowed. I'm glad she eventually loved him and at least she had a bunch of children, so it's not like she was totally alone.

Even tho this was sad it's was a good change of rhythm

Fuck, this ending is more bitter than sweet. She didn't really gain anything; she only lost. She clearly developed feelings for him and wouldn't mind remaining by his side, and it's not like she even used the freedom that she earned in the end. She just lived a quiet and most likely lonely life for god knows how many years until she eventually died as well. Reizoku Maou had a happy ending, so I was expecting this one to pull the resurrection card too. I'm glad it didn't. Sure, it's heartbreaking, but that's the point; invoking some kind of feeling on the reader. While it is nice to see happy endings, I respect artists that don't shy away from making sad ones. It feels fresh and genuine.
