When I translated the kanji, at first I thought the term sibling-in-law and step-sibling was mutual/the same, but after delving into it further, I found out it's just like vanillayandere said. At first I thought the kanji only meant -in-laws, but after checking it with the kanji for the sister, it appears they use it for step-siblings too. Will be corrected

There's a translation error. In english, a sibling-in-law is the sibling of your spouse. Whereas these characters are step siblings, meaning that their parents are married, but they (the main characters) aren't genetically related.

herper: It's not a translation error. The author wrote it as a inseki for some reason. It could be Gaticomi demanded it to be written like that, since most other comics gaticomi looks fairly safe
