See, THIS is the example of good fiction. You have the beginning, with an ordinary and normal start, good background, believable characterizations, then we have the middle where the plot gets introduced, and the characters start changing, but in a believable and documented evolution. When we get to the climax, we understand what took place and how we got here, so we don't even need to suspend disbelief that much: the evolution was reasonable, paced out, and while the premise of it is the same as most of your other works, this one actually shows us how things got to that point. Heck, there's even an epilogue where we can not only use as a nice bow to end it all, but it could even work as a transition to a sequel. THIS is good writing. Don't let it be the exception. Let it be the standard.
