i quite disagree with the way the people limit entities occuring around us and how mere numbers define the state of being of an entity. for example, the idea of magnitude. nothing can really be as limited as the peope claim it to be as in terms of unscaled magnitude, one's values can be infinite. a peice of paper, as such, has a definite magnitude when we put it on a scale but we do realise it can never be completely accurate. if we remove the scale, we can zoom in on the surface of the paper to infinity, if we have the tool to do so which we don't. without a scale, the value of the paper seems to be infinite in a certain aspect. in the same way, the universe, or the 3rd dimensional existence might not be limited. an entity can change form and properties but not its state of existence. nothing can totally dissipate from existence as such. Since we are not citing our source's here ill just make a rebuttal to srealo's comment on erectile dysfunction. Ed isnt caused by exhaustion its caused by a multitude of things. I think we are missing the point of the harem protagonist here. In most harem anime, the protagonist does not have a polygamous relationship, instead he is simply flirting with a lot of women (or men, I don't judge). In nearly all of those cases it ends with the protagonist choosing ONE of the girls and although there are exceptions, the norm is a monogamous relationship as the endgame. Thus your theories only work in few cases, but even if we look at those we cannot forget the human element. For example the main character himself might not always be down for it. As for erectile dysfunction, it leans back into the fact that as with any human organ there is a limit to how often it can be used efficiently within a given span of time. So while an MC may be able to satisfy an amount of women per day, his performance will wane in the same way as with exhaustion. Obviously this also depends on the person (especially when relating to isekai scenarios where men are given a superhuman amount of stamina and recovery power) but for any given MC there is a potential for burn out. Ultimately, I do agree with your tl;dr of MCs having it rough, but it all depends on how large their harem is and the logistics of how they end up having sex.

Well as with any situation involving physical exertion, you run the risk of exhaustion. This is amplified by the size of the harem since the protagonist can be satisfied with any N amount of sex, the amount of women that also have to be satisfied will be N*W (W being the amount of women in the harem). Even if we go by the bare minimum of say a half hour of sex per woman, that's still a potentially massive amount of effort. Obviously there are other factors like how long it takes for a given partner to desire sex since it's not a given that every woman in the harem will want sex daily. Conversely, there could be women that want sex multiple times a day. For the sake of a "fair" harem, all women should be equally satisfied. This, in turn, leads to a situation where not only is the MC in a position of exerting their energy to satisfy every woman but he also has no guarantee of time to recuperate his energy. Your example is flawed since that's an employee being caught stealing from an employer. A harem protagonist would not be exposed to any "accidental erotic circumstances" just like a normal couple isn't either. *IF* we're talking about a harem that the protag is actively having sex with then any such situation would just be a varied excuse to have sex. Now obviously there are a multitude of other issues for a harem protag such as energy exhaustion and erectile disfunction. Ultimately if there is sex being had in the harem it's not going to go the way of your example. If there's no sex then it's not much of a harem to begin with.

In regards to my answer to the Ship of Thesues paradox; I believe that the ship remains the same, my theory is that an object is not decided on its physical features but rather it's purpose. Say for example you have a torch, if said torch runs out of battery and you replace it with a new brand of battery does that mean you have a new torch? no you do not. If we apply this logic to the Ship of Theseus paradox, every time the ship is repaired with new planks of wood, the purpose does not change and as the boat like a torch with new batteries it functions as before.
