Just checked out the author's twitter @manga_works and apparently they're from Saitama. No wonder the scenery and train from part 1 looked so familiar. Forgot what line its called, but its from a non JR line that kinda is the only rail in the area, (passes through Nagatoro, I believe) which narrows down the possible locations by a lot. Anyway another great masterpiece.
