Yup, you got it right minminazusa. I hope someone translates more of Kuma’s works, they are genius and there are so many missing.

@kr96 : some of the details such as situation of their world, and how omega can't pair up, are actually thrown into the author's afternotes (p19) rather than the story content. It's mentioned originally Maki would have been a beta who can only be bystander but can't do anything to Umi and Kotori; that set up got revised.

With my very very limited japanese, I only get tiny bits of understanding that Umi begged to be made an alpha but if what @minminazusa said was true, then wow... this doujin plot is way deeper than I expected;;; big respect to Kuma, especially their omegaverse doujins never disappoint

Setting is based on the 80s. Umi loves Kotori, but omega can't become pair, because they're too weak to protect themselves. So, Umi asked Maki (probably an alpha) to make her stronger (change her into alpha). The result is she became futanari, but still gets into heat like omega. There are people who don't like what Maki did, because it's threatening the structure of their world. Umi protects Maki, and Maki helps doing after care, at least that's the excuse. Maki loves Umi, but she knows Umi loves someone else.
