I think I get it. What they had hanging in the gallery was only half of the painting. What the priest was burning was the rest of it: a grown man enticing a young girl to have sex. The man and the girl are, unintentionally, making the modern version of that painting; that's why they are making the same pose as the two figures in the paintings. The whole thing ties into the museum curator's statement about abandoning the imaginary for the real. This dude is wasted making lolicon hentai he should do something more with his talents.
