Just looked at the original. The author worded it really weird because there's no real full stop when he mentions "the woman that used to live next door to us long ago". You'd usually have something like "ah/by the way, she has a daughter that will be your big sister" or something along those lines, but this script doesn't have that. But yeah, Satoru's father marries Misaki's mom. I admit that I liked how Misaki was shown to have some yandere traits but gave a logical explanation for them, between being neglected by her parents (meaning she fixated on Satoru as a way to cope) and the legit trauma over Satoru's accident as a kid.
