Well to be fair latino/latina as mentioned is someone with the latin language as their background in europe this is mostly countries that where at some point part of the roman empire but it also includes countries later conquered or heavily influenced by these countries but when it comes to the southamerican latinos they are usually refered to as latinamericans which most people equate to latinos then you also have hispanic people that are those tied together by the spanish language or spanish colonization. Still the fact that a spanish person points to polygamy and promising their children to marry feels kinda off since polygamy is not legal in europe though some countries accept it if done abroad while promising their children to marriage and pressuring them to do it is more common in asian countries far as I know.

latino refeers to any country which language is derived from latin... in the case of spanish it comes from latin that was bringed by romans to the peninsula iberica, that latin mixed with castellan (or "castilian" a language speaked on the iberian peninsula centuries ago) later the moros will invade the iberian peninsula and the arabic language speaked by the moros will mix with latin/castellan giving birth to modern español... latinoamerica refeers to any country that speak a language derived from latin in the american continent
