Oh wow.. you guys in the comments are right about this one. It infects by taking the person as a host, taking over their brain. Pretty sure they are dead on the spot but the slime keeps them animated. The other one.. everyone so far keeps taking the guys words as fact. The reason the other guy keeps saying assimilation this and assimilation that is because he doesn't want to believe the truth. Truth of the matter is that the slime in that story devours the entire host aka kills them and then replicates the person they killed to an exact match to use as a walking meat suit. None of those girls are alive any longer.

@average Peenoise Feel the same about the series honestly. The way the slimes make an ecology is pretty fascinating. Between the Takamiya slime and the twin tail slime they're likely of the same species but seem to have subspecies hence each breed having their own territories per Takamiya Slime which they hunt in and maintain predatory dominance in. If we count DATE's MIMIC comic there's a third subspecies that hollows out the hosts body, consuming their memories and consumes their mates. Ignoring the Mimic comic, Takamiya and Twintail slimes both seem to seek mates as core to establish both their territory and hunting grounds. So much so to the point where they may come into mortal conflict with one another. Though we've seen Takamiya reach an upper limit on self division and become physically/mentally(?) unstable while Twintail likewise acts independent of its Miu split so far to her chagrin. Love the art, lore and eldritch horror aspect of the story.

Each slime, in my opinion, has a unique method of possession and cloning. This particular slime is parasitic since it only grows inside the host's organs and releases its clones by budding (basically a copy of the slime will grow inside the host and when it's fully capable of living by itself it will leave the original slime thus finding another host for itself), in order to spread or multiply. It also only eats the host's brain to obtain control over their body. The slime from the other series is much harder to explain because it assimilates the victim to become a slime(?) And then, the way they think is also strange because when they assimilate a new person, all of them can somehow create a copy of that particular person, making the way of their thinking a "hive mind." However, they are their own independent being, which makes them much more difficult to explain...

What I think is interesting is in Ch.10 of Doukyo Suru Neneki, in the end, slime brings up "We all have our territories" It kind of gives away that at some point It must have split off, and formed another consciousness, we can assume the initial partner is Yuuji. I'm honestly surprised how long this story has been running, but the continuity and story itself is so intriguing

I think she can possibly parasitize more than one person at once she's the same type of creature from date's Mimic (392230), I believe. Also Mimic might be a Bad End version of these stories. I think he's trying to unify all his possession stories so I assume we'll also see a creature similar to Gitai which has its own couple of chapters. Hence when Slime-chan says that *they* all have their territories.

Either a side effect after leaving the host or the slime leaved a part of itself in her so it can still control her while she can still be concious(checks drool), the girl just became mental due to slime messing with her head and decided to stay or the slime from part 1 just assimilated her, i hope isnt the last one, i want a the new story to not mess with the previous one.

This slime unlike the one from part 1 which assimilate its victims this one can only parasite the host by enter the head and from that on if the prelude is correct it implies it consumes the brain to be able to read the host's memories and gain full control, basically the aunt and the other girl are clinically dead tho their bodies still function as long the slime keeps controling them. This new story not only has parasitism and posession which is hot but also can be considered a form of soft-necrophilia depending on what is your concept of death. Overall i have many questions, do the hosts are aware during the possesion? their minds are really gone? do the slime can split itself or can just be in one host at the time? whats up with the twintail girl at the end? I cant wait to see more of this, personally i like this type of slime more than the previous one specially because of the expressionless sex you can ge from this one.
