@00_ it's because wikipedai isn't a place to publish findings. it is a place for consolidating knowledge. it doesn't have the systems of peer review that scientific journals do. If you do a study or find some result and want it on wikipedia, then you publish in a journal, have it pass all the checks and review, then site that journal on wikipedia. By forcing sources to go through external review, it's a way of ensuring people can't just put whatever crazy stuff they make up on the site, without needing the considerable cost of reviewing every single source themselves for its validity.

I do think it's weird for Wikipedia to only accept secondary sources in their articles but not primary ones
