She literally baked the cake and ate it, she got rewarded for her bullshit behavior. If the story was about coming out clean with their immature actions and end the story about them learning about the nuances of love and relationships, it would have worked better. It's fucking stupid that her cheating ass got married at all considering that the dude did no grave wrongdoings.

2/2 but there's actually a pt 3. the girl's growth is not as explicit given the story is told through the guy's perspective, but it can still easily be inferred given the tone and general feel of the story, and especially with the added context of the author's afterword. first, it's clear that she does actually love her partner (to be clear for you illiterate fuckers, the boyfriend/husband). nowhere is it to be taken that she's in a loveless relationship. there's certainly issues, and the cheating is used as the vessel allowing for growth. I only say this to say that whatever personal meaning or feeling you incel mother fuckers have on this is irrelevant here. moving to her actual growth now. the main point being made is that she's realised that what she wants in life and the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with is her husband. it's why she realises she can no longer communicate with the guy at all, and blocks him. this is her movement into adulthood.

1/2 because there are too many media illiterate fuckers out here. everyone saying it's a bad ending or a sad story, you people are beyond saving. there's just zero media literacy and zero awareness. even without reading the author's afterword, the story is clearly meant to be one of growth, and the ending is meant to be a positive one not negative. for the guy, we can see this in the first few pages where he's taking a selfie in the swimsuit, with the implication being that it's the text message the girl receives as she's getting ready for her wedding. after this, we see him moving on with his life to something new - moving out of his apartment to somewhere new - not dejectedly, but with a determined grin. he's no longer the child just waiting for something to happen, waiting for his crush to make the move. he's now taking his first step into adulthood.
