I really don’t like drugs, so this is a pass from me. And also, irl you can damage the dopamine receptors by using drugs that stimulate dopamine production. Think of your brain as a pinball machine, the ball is dopamine, and your receptors are the bumpers. Every time you do something that feels good, the ball bumps into the bumper, releasing dopamine. Now, imagine if the pinball machine has a button, and when you press it, it releases more balls, which means there’s now more balls that can hit the bumpers more often, making it release more dopamine. The thing is, drugs are very addictive (as in, you feel the need to press the button more) and you’ll have to take more to achieve the same effect. Due to the increased numbers, the bumpers will eventually start to crack, before breaking completely. And when that happens, it’s too late to go back, because at that point you’ve caused irreparable damage to your receptors. That’s the danger of drugs.
