This is missing the few pages where they're back to normal after this. Ponytail girl is mad (as she should be) but says she wants to do it again and black hair girl says she will try to include mobility function next time. The ending is them, being dollified, playing on the street with a crowd admiring them. Those few pages really make the story not as dark as it seems.
