Good thing this chapter at least gives more meaning to her actions because of Karen. It's especially neat that this element seems to motivate her to further adapt as shown in p.17 (notice how it parallels Chapter 1). Sadly, for such a difficult choice it's the only thing detailed to be out stake with little sense of what she might personally give up.
