For those curious on whether this is a translation or a rewrite: I glanced over the original a bit (I have limited knowledge of Japanese) and there are many bits which are so close that I think they must have been translations, but there were also others which were completely made up by the translator. For example, there didn't seem to be any mentions of pregnancy (or her age) in the original. What's more, that image of the egg cell being fertilized was not there in the original. Check for yourself: 289725 page 139. That said, the translator's fuckery with the story did give this one more personality; the original one seemed even more generic, so I don't completely dislike it.
