As for shishido he is actually a good friend to reji and kanade. I think the side couples are introduced into the story as a filler to extend it. But peter may also have introduced them in the main story so he can branch off the main story when it ends and he'll already have a plot laid out to build on. I'm not sure what 39 will bring but reji and kanade are going to stay together that much I know. But as for the sex in 39 it will be reji and kanade or peter will flip over to shishido and iroha for the sex scene in 39. Those are the only 2 possible sex scenes for 39. But both kanade and reji forgive each other already but they have to meet and talk in person. Asuka showing up when she did will force kanade to go meet reji and asuka will tell the truth about what kanade seen and heard that nite. I also think asuka will tell kanade what kosuke tried to do to her when he stopped for clothes so kanade will find out kosuke lied to her that no one was there.

Not withstanding the fact that we're here analyzing smut as if it was a piece of literature, don't overthink every sex scene that is shown in this doorstopper. It IS smut and the author needs to draw at least one sex scene per chapter, regardless of it making sense or not. Also, he wants to sell, so he tries to appeal to as many as he can. NTR fans seem to be the most catered to, but Vanilla fans are invested in the Asuka/Reiji or Reiji/Kanade shipping, Grape/Netori fans can cheer for Kosuke and the author even introduced more couples just to have more variety to the "idgaf about the story i just want to fap" crowd. As for the ending, unless the author is retiring after this, he will probably try to write the end that will guarantee more eyes for his next work.

If it comes to divorce negotiations, Kanade and Kosuke will be at a disadvantage because there is video evidence of their affair. Reiji and Asuka have no objective evidence. So I won't feel any better unless I confiscate Kanade's opening funds.

If they were to change the plot from here, I think they need to have a scene where Reiji loses interest in Kanade and snaps after Shishido shows him a picture of Kanade and Kosuke having sex during the viewing .
