Honestly with a great big helping of societal decay along with more advancements in technology, this could happen irl.. Through World war, Civil war, Coup, Extreme reform, or even a Rogue AI, this could probably be abolished... What's really scary is if the vast majority accepts the status quo while fully understanding the circumstances, or the oppressors are simply too strong due to technology. Thing is, this is extremely self-destructive behavior, and accepting this system would mean accepting that anyone can just have a collar slapped on them and turned into a slave in mere minutes. For historical slavery, it seems to me like the slave owners would justify their position above somehow, and within their own group, more or less agree that their group is above the slaves. Removing this upper layer and only having a bottom layer of people who can be turned into slaves seems way too chaotic. The guy who bought her doesn't seem to have any particular claim to be above nor an immunity..
