Chapter 37 translation drop, and am not sure why some people that read it where defending Kanade and say that it prove that she still like Reiji. In the translation it made clear that it was Kanade that ran up to Kosuke and hugged will blushing him as soon as he came home. Kosuke is aware that Kanade my have developed feelings for him and it is showen all over this chapter. Kosuke didn't force or trick her in having sex, in fact she is the one who mounted him. And she is self aware.

You can't use the excuse of Kanade running out after miss hearing Reiji, since she went hoping on Kosuke dick. Doesn't matter if it was 2 days or 45 days. Outside of that i would like to know how Kanade showed any love for Teiji. The only reason she is with Reiji it to repay his kindness. Know that I think about it, I take back what I said. Kanade seems to show more care for Kosuke. Back at the hotspring when Asuka told them that Kosuke cheated on her Kanade stood up for Kosuke and even stayed by his side, which started everything. Also Kanade's feeling for Kosuke is just lust, and and we don't really know how she feels about Reiji. @romeo1017 Reiji was never indecisive he never wanted to swap partners, it was always Kanade. Even when Reiji went to his family home he never intended to swap, it was Kanade that went running to Kosuke and he figured that Asuka will try and seduce Reiji. It's Kanade that is indecisive and sticks to Kosuke. The only reason we think Kosuke is always winning is because Kanade is made out to be the prize and she always chooses Kosuke with no reason behind it.

If it was going to end the typical ntr way then it would have ended already. And everyone would have already split and asuka would have just stayed with reji. But asuka sees kanade is the only one reji wants. And in 39 reji finally says he's done being indecisive and he is kanades husband so he wants kanade back and is finally going to go get her. In no way shape or form does that mean he promises anything for the manga. In fact, you should definitely trust nothing Peter Mitsuru says. His promises mean fuck all. How did Chapter 37 & 38 show he was "trying his best" to keep them together? If anything, the obvious route that has been shown to us is the permanent exchange of spouses route. And he has been catering everything to his beloved self insert character, Kousuke Mitsuru.

Peter posted on X back in September of 23 that he will be keeping reji and kanade together to continue their journey as a couple. But 38 was a complete shit chapter and really pissed off alot of readers even the Japanese readers and comments have died down fast afterwards. We will get 40 this month yet but peter is probably trying to smooth over the fuck up he did. And show kanade and reji together. But in the manga it probably won't be anything in 40 of them for the sex scene yet so by dropping the bonus chapter people get some kanade and reji scenes since it would be super rushed to do it in 40 but it is possible to do it but then he would have back track in 41 to show what he skipped in 40 to get them to that point

Yeah I'm looking forward to the end also but I hold firm that it will be reji and kanade back together no more swapping or anything after they finally meet and talk. But the biggest question is when will peter end it? It will be 42 or 48. The books are 6 chapters each so he needs to end it on a multiple of 6 to have a complete last book eventually.

You are correct @Romeo1017. maybe that's why peter is making a bonus story because there are many readers who don't want to continue and witness the story. especially kanade and kosuke. so there is a possibility that the story will last longer, there will be many twists and turns. (Of course, so that more people will buy and those who left will come back). I really want Peter to finish Reiji's Story and do something else. Mitsuru seems hellbent on "subverting the expectations." The expectations being: the characters have average human agency and intelligence and the plot is remotely (for an hentai work) grounded in a semblance of reality. Mitsuru should stick to short format like Touma Itsuki. If you imagine the average Itsuki work extended to 40 chapters you would get something like this.
