Just to add. I hate rape in general. But the reason I'm so much angrier is because this kid genuinely likes him, trusted him and is so innocent. The betrayal is too much to bear for me. Kaede’s flower represents fragility, innocence, and purity. It’s a metaphor for Nagito himself—he could never truly break Kaede, even after everything he put him through. Despite the abuse Nagito inflicted—the same pain he had suffered at the hands of his mother and her lover—Kaede still waits for "Nagi-kun," as he affectionately calls him. Even after all the harm, Kaede clings to the hope of not losing him, wishing they could somehow rebuild their shattered bond. But Nagito, on the other hand, is broken again and again throughout the story, by others and by his own self-destructive behavior. In the end, Nagito has caused as much harm as he’s endured. The flower he crushed might grow back, like Kaede will eventually heal. But Nagito realizes he’s too far gone—there’s no way back for him. In the end, the crushed flower was Nagito himself. He’s just a tragic product of two heartless adults who destroyed him.

Reading this story in English just confirms what I thought: this is probably the best shota-story I've ever read. It has a deep, realistic story that’s painfully believable because it tackles heavy topics like abuse, the trauma that follows, and the victim’s downward spiral. For once, a yaoi author has delivered a real story. It’s sad, harsh, and full of metaphors. The protagonist is broken—rejected by his mom, abused by her lover. He’s suffering and slowly spiraling, repeating the same harmful patterns he’s experienced, almost like he’s trying to exorcise his own pain. What he goes through doesn’t excuse his actions, but it adds depth to the story. You get why he’s ended up like this. The "scar" in the title is both physical (the injury Kaede accidentally gives him while defending himself) and symbolic of the emotional trauma Nagito carries because of his mom and her lover.
