If they regressed to making the same mistakes, we'd typically call that character regression or even bad development or bad writing, like repeating our mistakes is prohibited. Unfortunately that's just how our life goes. We can't switch our habits on a dime, just like a plane can't do an instant 180, it has to bank a turn, so do we have to make small changes incrementally to make any sort of lasting progress. Our character is built on the foundation of thousands of small choices. All we can do is be deliberate about what those choices are and what sort of building they'll support.

From my understanding of Lacan's quote, love is giving what you lack, trying to fill that lacking through the person you love. However, they might not want it since they are also trying to complete what they lack, through you. In a sense, it is two people depending on each other for their own needs. The cover art is also interesting since the apple is shown completely eaten in the end. The apple might represent what they lack (what they want), more so because they are holding it out for each other.

Okay how does this exist. This feels like it was written for me. It's "intellectual" but it's not an essay, it's just made by someone so clearly literate who synthesized everything they know about art into this. The poetics is so incredibly good, the sex scenes are so nicely drawn, they show the bodies of the characters in action but they're so material, so tangible, this struggle with philosophical nihilisms and solipsism broken through just by commune with a significant other, I could go on and on and on, this is one of the most touching pieces of art I've ever read

I haven't even read it but this gets a 10/10 for quoting Lacan on the first page. *schniff*
