And he will regret ultimately divorcing her as most do when severing ties with a wayward spouse, but he will eventually have the "This is nice ... ... This is better." epiphany and realize he only loved the mask and not the real face behind it. His "happiness" he mentions in the end is nothing but cope to deal with the fact that his effort to do everything right to avoid the same toxic relationship he witnessed as a child has all been in vain and he checked out like she already has. He’s is a good position: 1) His wife and her affair partner’s case is purely cheating, no trying to belittle him, just doing their own business. 2) He found out on his own and have time to process this situation. In the end, he even said, “this is our… no, my happiness”; he probably stopped expecting anything more than surface-level marriage life with her already, as long as she doesn’t stab him openly. If it cause her to be unsatisfied and intensify the cheating, well, it’s just signalling time she consent on ending the marriage.

He really cherish their peaceful marriage life (the flashback shows his parents often fights), so it’s too much playing it safe. The other thing is, his mother is wanting a grandchild, and he also wants a baby. When he had sex for their anniversary (when she’s wearing sexy underwear), he mentioned it feels like forever since they are doing sex like a man and woman, not just for making baby. His suspicion also begin when he found out she had been taking pills.
