@Vallac I had to look into it myself as a Touhou fan that didn't know the full context on Layla. I'll explain what about this story is official, and anything that isn't explained was made my Harusame (you guessed it, the sex). I'll try to be brief. Lunasa, Merlin, Lyrica, and Layla were four sisters to a family of merchants. The head of the house brought a magic item that ended up bringing the mansion and the Prismriver sisters to Gensokyo. It's not explicitly stated, but implied that Layla was the only survivor of that move to Gensokyo. It's ironic, then, that Layla and the magic item created the poltergeists of her three sisters. After all, "Layla was a lonely little girl." - ZUN. The poltergeists never aged or experienced bodily functions, so, eventually, Layla passed of old age. The other sisters eventually made their way to the Netherworld, and eventually the plot of Touhou 7 happened. I will say that, personally, having this context makes this story less sad to me.
