I personally think some people hate her because of her fans, mainly the obsessed, loud and annoying one. They used to be all over Twitter and HoyoLab at the time of her release. They came across as weird, creepy, obsessed and delusional. At some point I hate Firefly too because of their behaviour, my thoughts at the time is like "sure you can like her but don't post your creepy obsession on the internet for everyone else to see" but ehh I've come to realise I'm just wasting my time and energy to care about them. In my mind, I'm better off practicing guitar or that damned calculus.

Saying "everyone" is a bit of a stretch, but some people REALLY, REALLY despise her because she feels boring, uninspired, overexposed, underwritten and "popular because of heavy marketing". Her sudden emotional depth and screen time made it like Hoyoverse were forcing players to care without enough buildup. The story goes from cosmic horror and dream logic to Firefly's personal trauma, disrupting the story's pacing. Some people disappointed because they expected SAM, the heavily armored mech mercenary, to be a cool male antihero but we ended up getting a fragile, sick, tragic sick girl in a mech suit. I personally also disappointed by this, but it's whatever. People argue that it feels like emotional bait: "make the character fragile and doomed, and people will care more." They used the classic anime "terminally ill girl" tropes to gain sympathy feels so cheap, especially because it wasn't executed well like in I Want to Eat Your Pancreas or Your Lie in April.
