If you are of a people who, on average, have 2-3 children per male and female couple, you are "above replacement rate" ...on paper. Furthermore, due to how their culture is described, the concept of marriage seems to be almost non-existent, meaning that the Vana aren't bound to a single partner. The Vana sisters of this story are only half-sisters, and their mother had a pair of twins before them- presumably to a third father. All of this combined leads to a birthrate that makes India look slow and plodding by comparison, and that place pumps out children by the millions.

I took some time to think about it and re-read it after a few days, and while it's not peak Asanagi, it's still top tier by most measures. It isn't, but somehow it feels short, maybe due to the constantly accelerating pacing. Each event increases the space by some amount, and in the end we get very few pages at the peak. It's almost the opposite of typical asanagi, where it peaks very fast then maintains it for the rest of the story. Maybe this would've benefited from more pages, but it's hard to say when it's already 50 pages.

Nothing better than asanagi's work. About the cat tongue comment, I assume that the cat tongue evolved with them. They probably don't need to hunt anymore, they probably cook food like humans and don't need their previous tongue trait. They would probably also lose the tail, but you know that a cat girl is not cool without its tail.
