@Blankroom, I've checked the first book, the wife's maiden name is Ogino therefore the husband's family name is Tsukumo. I lean toward the theory of living separately because the wife is not barred from wearing wedding ring. Also, two small details that I get are one, in page 90, if observe closely on the husband finger, he did not wear his wedding ring and two, the closed 'box' thing beside his wedding ring is a double picture frame with one side has the picture of the couple's graduation day and the other side has picture of the their family of three. She's a pitiful woman who took the wrong choice of concealing her past and that very same past bit her and family real hard. If only she sit down with her husband and discussed this together.

Also one thing that bothers me is they're using the wife's name for their plate. And they're still using it at the end there. Dunno if that is an error or what and author meant to put the husbands name. I think if the beginning it was the husbands surname or hers and then changed at the end it'd be more clear if they divorced.

This is just one interpretation but the end is husband divorced her or they live separately.
