I think the only thing that could have improved this was him telling her that the effort she was putting in to get him to see her in a different light hadn't worked because it wasn't effort directed at him-- when she explained her frustrations with him that made see her differently and that was the step that mattered. Like, I took that away from it in the end but I think it would be cool of the MMC to express it as a relationship growth moment. (Not that she shouldn't want to feel pretty, just not for his sake alone)
