I think the thing with fat ugly dudes is that the japanese believe that these dude are their target audience. It's kinda insulting if that's the truth, since I know in the USA that guy across the scale fat-skinny, ugly-handsome indulge in porn. I do remember reading a doujin which explained the some parts of the doujin mangaka business. Some artist like to use the grosses looking guys on pretty girls in their work because they get off on the sense of corruption in creates. Ugly guys are a major turn-off for me in doujins, the MC can be fat as long as the face is okay though. Face is paramount, weight can be changed with exercise.
